Nerf N Strike Stampede ECS

Nerf N Strike Stampede ECSStampede flattens the competition, when the Nerf Vulcan was released, people were excited, and rightfully so. It was one of Nerf’s first fully automatic blasters. However, the Vulcan had its downsides. It was heavy, cumbersome, and had a clumsy loading system. Over a year later Nerf has reinvented the wheel so to speak by introducing the Nerf Stampede ECS. A lighter, less cumbersome fully automatic blaster.

The Stampede is still no lightweight. Without six “D” batteries in it, the blaster already weighs a good 6-7 pounds. Combine that with the 30” long and 15” tall (when full sized clip is inserted) frame and the Stampede earns a spot in Nerf’s heavy weight class. Thankfully, Nerf compacted the frame width to make it more reminiscent of an assault rifle. This makes it far easier to transport than the Vulcan, which was known to make the carrier walk awkwardly.

Along with the blaster you get one 6 dart ammo clip and three new 18 dart ammo clips. Aesthetically, the 6 dart ammo clip looks better in the gun, however, the fully automatic blaster makes quick work of them. The 18 dart ammo clips stick out like a sore thumb on the weapon, but obviously allow for less loading. Sadly, there is no manual priming of the weapon either. So no batteries, no shooting.

You also get a blast shield as well as a pop-out bi-pod with the Stampede. Both of these are neat additions, however, they have the potential to be more of a hindrance than a blessing. The pop-out bi-pod has a tendency to unlock relatively easy, which could result in dropping the blaster. The blast shield, although cool looking, provides little practical value. Sure, it might protect your face, but to shoot accurately you have to look over it anyways.

Besides some lackluster add-ons, the Stampede is the highlight of the current Nerf Arsenal. So whether you are a Nerf aficionado or someone looking into buying their first Nerf blaster, the Stampede is a definite must have. Just make sure you’re not on the receiving end of it.
